Common questions
The chart is empty — where's my data?
Daily Fluctuations draws from the weigh-ins in Apple Health. Two things to check:
- Permission. Open the Health app → your profile → Privacy → Apps → Daily Fluctuations, and make sure weight is switched on. iOS only asks once, so if you tapped “Don't Allow” the first time, this is where you turn it back on.
- Some data to show. If Health has no weight entries yet, add one with the + button in the app, or from your scale's app. One reading is enough to get started; the trend gets more useful the more often you weigh in.
Why doesn't the trend match the number on my scale?
That's the whole point of it, actually. Your morning weight bounces around with water — salt, carbs, alcohol, a hard workout, hormones, and when you last ate all change how much water your body is holding. A kilo or two overnight is almost always water, not fat.
The trend is a weighted average that leans on your recent weigh-ins, so it follows the weight you're really settling at rather than today's exact number. A genuine loss or gain shows up clearly, while a single heavy or light morning won't drag it around.
How do I get an accurate reading?
- Weigh first thing in the morning, after the toilet and before eating or drinking.
- Use the same scale on the same hard floor, in similar clothing (or none).
- Weigh often. Daily is ideal, but regular beats perfect — the trend fills in the small gaps.
I missed a week (or a month). Did I break it?
Not at all. The trend is built to handle gaps — it adapts whether you missed a couple of days or a couple of months, and simply picks up from your next weigh-in. When a chart range starts inside a gap, the app marks that first point as an estimate (shown with a “≈”) so the line stays continuous without pretending you stepped on the scale that day.
Can I change the units?
Yes — kilograms, pounds, or stone. It's in the app's Settings, and it just changes how weights are shown; your underlying data isn't touched.
Is my data private?
Completely. Everything happens on your device — no accounts, no servers, no tracking. The full details are on the privacy page.
What's the “buy me a coffee” thing?
An entirely optional one-time tip if you'd like to support the app. It unlocks nothing and hides nothing — the app is fully featured either way. It's just a kind way to say thanks, alongside leaving a review or telling a friend.
